Supporting education and innovation.
We need to belong
For over 10 years, Memphians through Su Casa have provided services to the Mid-South Hispanic community. We pair staff and over 70 volunteers with small groups of adults and children to help them connect to the wider Memphis community including the local church,, We teach English, tutor children and educate toddlers. Belonging begins with one friendship...make a friend today!
We need English
Twice a week, 200 Hispanics and Latinos from 15 countries gather in small groups based on English competency to learn English. They are taught by volunteers who know English and love our students. Our English as a Second Language (ESL) curriculum encourages learning something each student can use today.
All our children need to be equipped for Kindergarten
Can you imagine entering Kindergarten and not know English? To bridge this gap, we offer childhood education for 1- year to 4-year olds using the High Scope Preschool Curriculum in a bi-lingual setting. Children from Spanish speaking households are taught by an excellent staff of bi-lingual teachers. Our program is called Esperanza Early Childhood Education. You can help a child prepare for Kindergarten.
Our children need tutoring
Su Casa Kids cares for the children of those parents who are taking English as a Second Language with us. We use a mix of play activities, crafts, projects, and instruction. Children are encouraged to create, to build, to design using their talents and experiences.
Serve with us.
“We are a community and need to live like it. We should help our neighbors. We should be united. Those who have been blessed have the opportunity to help carry the burdens of others.”
— PHILLIP COOK, BOARD CHAIRMAN
